Wednesday 7th May 2014 will go down as a momentous date – the first patients nationally were screened for inclusion in the LASER trial at the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth.
Many more patients are booked in for screening appointments over the next few weeks and we hope to have our first patients using the TLA device by the end of the month.
Our next information event is being held this weekend (Saturday 10th May) at the Ageas Bowl, Botley Road, West End, Southampton at 12pm. If you are interested in attending this event then please get in touch – 07730 619850.
We hope that in the next few weeks, Southampton and Liverpool will be opening to recruitment and the trial will be available to more patients across the country with severe allergic asthma. Birmingham and Leicester will follow shortly with other centres expressing interest in taking part all the time.
We hope you are finding the website user friendly – if you have any feedback, a new ‘feedback’ tab has been added to the side of the homepage for you to leave your views. We have updated the trial locations page with directions and quick-links to trial centre addresses. Look out for the new ‘Recruitmentometer’ which will track the trial’s progress with screening and randomisation as we aim for our target of 222 participants.
Please ‘Follow us’ on Twitter @LASERtrial and ‘Like’ our Facebook page The LASER Trial. You can contact us on Facebook and Twitter with questions about the trial and we will be keeping you updated with trial progress.
